We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer with
3-5 years
of procurement / purchasing experience, ideally in a manufacturing or engineering environment, to join our supply chain/procurement team. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing materials, components, and services; negotiating with suppliers; managing purchase orders; ensuring timely delivery; and optimizing cost, quality, and supplier performance. This is a full-time, on-site role.
Key Responsibilities Solicit quotations from suppliers, evaluate bids, and recommend suppliers based on price, quality, delivery, and overall value. Negotiate pricing, terms and contracts with vendors in line with company objectives (cost savings, quality standards, delivery reliability). Create and issue purchase orders; monitor order acknowledgements, lead times, and delivery schedules. Maintain accurate records of supplier performance, lead times, quality metrics, and cost trends. Collaborate closely with engineering, production, quality, and operations teams to understand material/component specifications and ensure supplier compliance. Forecast material needs in coordination with production planning to avoid shortages or inventory excess. Conduct supplier risk assessments, including capacity, quality history, and financial stability. Review and maintain purchasing policies, approving suppliers, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal standards. Track and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement process (e.g. cost reduction, waste reduction, process efficiency). Manage supplier relationships; resolve issues (quality or delivery) as they arise. Maintain and update vendor database; pursue new supplier sourcing as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field; or significant relevant experience. 3-5 years of direct purchasing / procurement / buyer experience, especially in manufacturing, machining, engineering, or similar industrial environment. Experience negotiating contracts, pricing and terms with suppliers. Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings/specifications, BOMs (Bills of Materials), quality standards. Solid understanding of material lead times, supplier lead time management, inventory principles, cost accounting/trend analysis. Proficient in using procurement / ERP systems (e.g. Oracle, SAP, Epicor, NetSuite, etc.) and Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel). Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to collaborate cross-functionally. Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities under deadline pressure. Analytical mindset; ability to analyze cost breakdowns, supplier quotes, market trends to make data-driven decisions. Ability to work full time on‐site, 5 days per week Preferred Qualifications Prior experience with precision manufacturing, metalworking, hydraulics, or related industries. Experience with continuous improvement / lean manufacturing procurement practices. Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g. ISO, RoHS, conflict minerals, etc.).
