Overview

Position Summary

The Accountant will support corporate and balance sheet accounting by analyzing financial information, maintaining accurate records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and tax liabilities, and ensuring financial reporting accuracy. The role will focus on monthly close, reconciliations, and corporate-level accounting activities, while also assisting with audits, compliance, and process improvements across the Finance Department.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations and detailed analysis of balance sheet accounts, including researching differences between general ledger balances and supporting schedules; prepare adjusting journal entries as needed.
  • Prepare monthly sales commission calculations and related journal entries.
  • Assist with monitoring intercompany balances, preparing eliminations, and reconciling intercompany accounts across multiple entities.
  • Assist with preparing journal entries for accruals, prepaids, and other recurring corporate-level adjustments.
  • Assist with external audit and tax requests, ensuring compliance with GAAP and corporate policies.
  • Assist with treasury activities such as daily reconciliations of cash accounts.
  • Partner with other departments to support process improvements, system enhancements, and special projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or progress toward certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in corporate or multi-entity environments.
  • Experience with Accounting Software (Microsoft Dynamics GP or similar ERP); strong MS Office skills, especially Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and corporate accounting practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and work independently.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Able to collaborate with individuals across all levels of the organization; customer-focused mindset.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency.

Additional Information

Travel: 0-5%

Location: Houston/TX (Open to Onsite or Hybrid)

Physical Demands: Occassionally lifting 25lbs. Position sits completing computer and phone work.
