Company Snapshot

Our client is a fast-growing real estate development and investment firm based in the Charlottesville VA area. The company is ~75M in revenue with 10+ employees, including three Partners, and plans for continued growth.

Role Overview

This Senior Accountant role is open due to growth, reports directly to the Controller, and will play a critical part in supporting accounting and finance operations across the firm’s development and construction portfolio. It offers a unique opportunity to start with core accounting responsibilities and evolve into development finance and investment modeling.

The position is remote-first, with monthly travel to Charlottesville, VA to their headquarters.

Key Responsibilities

• Record and reconcile project costs, invoices, and vendor payments
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses
• Assist with construction draw preparation and lender compliance
• Maintain and update project budget schedules
• Support year-end audits and financial statement preparation
• Contribute to capital forecasts, investor reporting, and financial modeling
• Collaborate with development team on deal structuring and market analysis
• Refine accounting policies and ensure GAAP compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2–5 years of experience in real estate development, construction accounting, or public accounting
• Experience with Sage 300 CRE preferred
• Familiarity with GAAP and development accounting principles
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Base salary $80,000–$90,000 + bonus potential
• Individual health insurance provided
• 13 days PTO + company-recognized holidays
• Remote-first with monthly travel to Charlottesville
