Responsibilities

• Drive truck over an established route to deliver and sell products or render services of the dairy industry to customers at their place of business.
• Follow all Department of Transportation regulations.
• Collect money from customers, make change, and record transactions on customer receipts.
• Write customer orders and instructions; record sales or delivery information on daily sales or delivery records.
• Solicit new business by calling on prospective customers; prepare order forms and sales contracts; inform regular customers of new products or services; listen to and resolve service complaints.
• Load and unload product at destination; place stock on shelves or racks; set up merchandise and sales promotion displays; issue sales promotion materials to customers.
• Collect or pick up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise.
• Stack and unstack items weighing up to 50 pounds from heights up to approximately seven feet; drag stacks of milk weighing up to 240 pounds throughout the shift; load and unload truck and carry merchandise.
• Work in various environmental conditions, including very hot (100+ degrees) and very cold (<32 degrees) environments; work outside most of the time.
• Maintain the inside of the truck, perform routine maintenance, and drive in a safe, courteous, and efficient manner.

Qualifications

• Must have a Class A commercial driver's license (CDL)
• Minimum age 21, as per Federal DOT regulations
• Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
• Past route sales experience and a good driving record preferred

Physical and Work Environment

• Climb, crawl, and walk in upright or bent positions as needed to load/unload and stock products
• Light to heavy lifting and manual handling as described above
• Very hot and very cold environments; outdoor work most of the time
