Human Resources Specialist at Sibley Memorial Hospital, Washington, DC.

Summary: Responsible for supporting onboarding and retention efforts of employees. Provides service to support the implementation and management of human resources programs and initiatives, and for resolving human resources-related issues at the department level. Serves as liaison between the Sibley HR department and JHHS Human Resources Information Systems team. Periodically assists the Director, HR, with special projects.

Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support onboarding and retention efforts of employees.
  • Assist with the implementation and management of HR programs and initiatives; resolve HR-related issues at the department level.
  • Serve as liaison between the Sibley HR department and the JHHS HR Information Systems team.
  • Assist the Director, HR, with special projects as needed.
  • Provide employee relations support, including policy interpretation and handling grievances.
  • Review knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and practices; stay informed on applicable regulations and standards.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable Federal and State labor and employment laws and regulations.
  • Participate in the Johns Hopkins Healthy at Hopkins initiative; assist with reporting, surveys, and manager inquiries as needed.
  • Resolve HRIS, Kronos, CISF, and payroll inquiries; monitor Kronos access and sign-off compliance.
  • Maintain employee files for regulatory readiness (e.g., Joint Commission).
  • Assist with unemployment claims, employment verification requests, and state reporting.
  • Facilitate monthly new hire orientation in collaboration with Talent Acquisition and other resources.
  • Support employee recognition programs and events; ensure program timelines are met and run smoothly.
  • Lead retention efforts, including stay and exit interviews, rounding, and ASK HR program.
  • Participate in HR team projects to integrate HR processes into business operations.
  • Represent the department on HR committees and organization-wide HR initiatives.
  • Maintain department reports using IT systems (e.g., HR Acuity, SAP).

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • SHRM-SCP or equivalent certification is helpful.
  • Up to two years of progressive human resources experience.
  • Experience in a healthcare/customer-intensive environment is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $26.12 per hour - $43.11 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
