Responsibilities

• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products in the department and respond to questions, offering suggestions
• Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company/store goals
• Prepare beverage selections to recipe and standards and to customer requests using proper equipment; process transactions following company best practices
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items; inform customers of coffee shop specials
• Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
• Recommend coffee shop items to ensure customers get what they want and need
• Use coffee shop equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) per company guidelines; prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action
• Operate kitchen equipment, espresso machines, blenders, scales and steamers properly
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
• Adhere to safety procedures and food safety regulations; identify unsafe conditions and notify store management
• Conduct preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of needed repairs
• Report accidents and safety risks; notify management of any issues including robbery, theft or fraud
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
• Demonstrate honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
• Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues
• Provide support and assistance to diverse customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
