About the Role
As a Cleaning Technician, or Store Custodial Technician as you are known internally, you perform a wide variety of custodial and cleaning duties to provide a clean, orderly and safe environment to ensure a Best Customer Experience. You create an environment that is easy for our Customers to shop through following proper Store Operations and Garment Care routines. You ensure maintenance, organization and cleanliness of garments on the sales floor and stockroom. You will actively contribute to being part of an amazing team to meet our customers’ expectations. This role will work in accordance with H&M standards, policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
Your Day to Day
- Performs custodial services on sales floor, fitting rooms, and Back of House areas.
- Dusts all counters/hard surfaces, removes trash and empties bins.
- Performs high dusting including lighting fixtures, vents and display areas.
- Vacuums carpets daily and shampoos monthly.
- Machine scrubs floors including stripping and washing.
- Cleans elevators and escalators daily.
- Cleans all electrical rooms, LAN rooms, and security rooms weekly.
- Maintains cleaning equipment, machine rooms, HVAC rooms, scrubbing machines, escalator cleaning machines, vacuums and related equipment.
- Maintains weekly log on janitorial conditions and recommendations.
- Ensures garbage is disposed daily and directed to waste management areas.
- Performs monthly follow up with visual team and stock team on display and stock material disposal.
- Performs daily mopping and sweeping.
- Stocks, supplies and refills all paper products.
- Maintains cleanliness of employee kitchen areas and bathrooms including surfaces, supplies and inventory checks.
- Completes spot cleaning of windows, doors and glass surfaces.
- Keeps registers and fitting rooms well maintained and replenished with necessary supplies.
- Maintains stock room in an orderly and efficient manner.
- Demonstrates the H&M 5 Basic Demands to greet and engage with customers in service areas and on the sales floor.
Qualifications
Who You Are
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in cleaning services industry, preferred.
- Ability to move or position objects in excess of 40 lbs. for short or long distances.
- Ability to remain stationary for long periods.
- Ability to position self to complete cleaning duties; repetitive motion may be required.
- Ability to ascend/descend a ladder as well as a step stool.
- Frequent use of machinery or hand tools to support cleaning tasks.
- Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and take initiative to complete tasks and solve problems.
- Work environment includes exposure to loud noise, dirt, dust, odors, fumes and hazardous materials.
- Flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

Job Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Compensation: Cleaning Technicians Start at $17.50 per hour
