We are recruiting for a motivated Pharmacy Medication Liaison, Technician - Specialty Pharmacy Services to join our team!We are here for life's journey.Where is your life journey taking you?Being the heartbeat of Denver means our heart reflects something bigger than ourselves, something that connects us all:Humanity in action, Triumph in hardship, Transformation in health.DepartmentDH PHARMACY INFUSION CTR PAV LJob SummaryThe Pharmacy Medication Liaison, under the general supervision of a pharmacist and in conjunction with clinical staff, is responsible for providing access to non-specialty and specialty medications for patients by completing pharmacy-benefit prior authorization requests (PAR), co-pay assistance programs, medication assistance programs, benefits investigation, coordinating refill renewal requests, managing PAR and prescription renewal dates, and assisting patients without health insurance to connect with the Enrollment department as applicable. Clinical and technical knowledge is utilized to operate web-based applications, work in Microsoft Word and Excel, and analyze and audit pharmacy usage reports.Essential Functions: Serve as a referral point and as the expert in submitting applications for patients to receive provided drug and co-pay assistance from pharmaceutical manufacturer assistance programs (20%) Coordinate applications for assistance meeting drug-specific requirements for participation, including but not limited to forms, patient proof of income, relative clinical information, and physician or provider signature (20%) Track each request to achieve timely approval & follow-up with appropriate individuals when not approved (15%) Displays effective file management by maintaining documentation and detailed records of program participation, medications dispensed, and value of medications provided to patients via the Medication Assistance Program (10%) Completes consistent documentation in the electronic health record per program standard of practice (10%) Effective analysis and use of management data and reports to establish standards to monitor and improve contract performance (5%) Works with the Enrollment Services Department (5%) Directly enroll eligible patients into manufacturer patient assistance and co-pay programs (5%) Collaborate with other departments providing pharmacy related information to nurse case managers, complex case workers, health coaches, and patient navigators (5%) Work cooperatively with other staff members and clinic staff (5%) Education:High School Diploma or GED Required Work Experience:1-3 years One to Three (3) years of pharmacy technician experience or equivalent experience performing prior authorizations Required Licenses:PHAT-Licensed Pharmacy Technician - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required CPHT-Certified Pharmacy Technician - PTCB - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Required or CPHT-Certified Pharmacy Technician - NHA - National Healthcare Association Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Extensive knowledge of health care administration, including Medicare, managed care, Medicaid and CHP+ eligibility and enrollment processesExtensive knowledge of eligibility determination systemsKnowledge of federal and Colorado statutes, legislative initiatives and regulations, as well as federal, State and local policiesExcellent communication and organizational skillsAnalytical thinking, problem solving, and process improvement skillsAbility to work independently and with little supervisionAbility to disseminate program information, policies, rules and/or regulationsAbility to simultaneously coordinate and manage several functions, programs, and projects in various stages of completionAbility to consistently implement program, department and organizational policies and proceduresDemonstrates exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills in all interactions with internal and external healthcare team membersDemonstrates exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills in all interactions with patientsUnderstands how state and federal laws, regulations, policies and procedures impact specific job responsibilities and functionsDemonstrates actions to reasonably prevent, detect, and report unethical and unlawful business practicesProficiency with Microsoft Office requiredProficiency with Epic, preferredShiftWork TypeRegularSalary$50,200.00 - $75,300.00 / yrBenefitsOutstanding benefits including up to 27 paid days off per year, immediate retirement plan employer contribution up to 9.5%, and generous medical plansFree RTD EcoPass (public transportation)On-site employee fitness center and wellness classesChildcare discount programs & exclusive perks on large brands, travel, and moreTuition reimbursement & assistanceEducation & development opportunities including career pathways and coachingProfessional clinical advancement program & shared governancePublic Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligible employer+ free student loan coaching and assistance navigating the PSLF programNational Health Service Corps (NHCS) and Colorado Health Service Corps (CHSC) eligible employerOur ValuesRespectBelongingAccountabilityTransparencyAll job applicants for safety-sensitive positions must pass a pre-employment drug test, once a conditional offer of employment has been made.Denver Health is an integrated, high-quality academic health care system considered a model for the nation that includes a Level I Trauma Center, a 555-bed acute care medical center, Denver's 911 emergency medical response system, 10 family health centers, 19 school-based health centers, Rocky Mountain Poison & Drug Safety, a Public Health Institute, an HMO and The Denver Health Foundation.As Colorado's primary, and essential, safety-net institution, Denver Health is a mission-driven organization that has provided billions in uncompensated care for the uninsured.
