Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to support the design, fabrication, and assembly of custom vehicles. This role involves developing and optimizing manufacturing processes across metal fabrication, cabinetry, equipment installation, and electrical wiring. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems and lean manufacturing principles.
Key Responsibilities: Process Development & Optimization: Design and implement efficient manufacturing workflows for custom vehicle builds. Researching, developing, and implementing solutions to improve efficiencies, safety. Assisting and coordinating the implementation of design changes in the production setting. Researching and assisting in the implementation of tooling and fixtures as required for production. Develop fabrication and assembly procedures for metal structures, cabinetry, and integrated systems. Optimize layout and tooling for production efficiency and safety.
Technical Design & Documentation: Create process drawings and review CAD drawings and technical documentation for fabrication and assembly. Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of custom components. Maintain accurate BOMs, work instructions, and process documentation.
Fabrication & Assembly Support: Provide hands-on support and guidance to fabrication and assembly teams. Troubleshoot issues during metal fabrication, cabinetry installation, and wiring. Ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
Equipment Installation & Wiring: Oversee installation of mechanical and electrical equipment in custom vehicles. Ensure proper routing, termination, and testing of wiring harnesses and electrical systems. Coordinate with electrical engineers and technicians for system integration.
Continuous Improvement & Quality: Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction. Implement lean manufacturing and 5S principles on the shop floor. Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues.
Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering. 3–6 years of experience in custom manufacturing, preferably in automotive or specialty vehicles. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Strong understanding of metal fabrication, cabinetry construction, and electrical systems. Experience with ERP systems and production planning tools. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Skills: Experience with vehicle upfitting or specialty vehicle production. Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards (e.g., DOT, NFPA, ISO). Familiarity with control systems, and low-voltage wiring. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
