A highly motivated and detail-oriented
Estimator/Senior Estimator
is sought to join a growing construction team. This is a
fully remote position
working closely with Project Managers, General Contractors, and Subcontractor vendors. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, detail-driven, collaborative, and has a proven track record of success in civil construction estimating across a wide range of heavy civil construction projects, including earthwork, underground utilities, stormwater systems, sewer rehabilitation, pump stations, trenchless construction, erosion and flood control, dry utilities, paving, and structural concrete work. Responsibilities Review and interpret proposal documents, including specifications, plans, and drawings. Develop bid packages and ensure timely submission. Determine scopes of work and perform accurate quantity takeoffs. Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes. Communicate effectively with clients and project owners regarding estimates. Prepare itemized resource requirements, including labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor needs. Apply production rates accurately within estimates. Analyze subcontractor and material pricing for completeness and adherence to plans/specifications. Create project budgets and compile information for operations teams. Attend (virtual) preconstruction meetings and conduct project site assessments as needed. Identify potential risk factors and site-specific requirements. Assist in developing project schedules and activity sequences. Participate in estimate review meetings with operations and estimating personnel. Facilitate the smooth transition of information from estimating to field production teams. Support project management and field teams with cost tracking, production monitoring, and follow-up. Maintain historical bid data and organized project files. Assist with pricing of change orders and extra work. Skills & Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of construction experience. At least 5 years of civil construction estimating experience. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including incomplete sets. Strong math and analytical skills. Proficiency in
HeavyBid (HCSS) or InEight
estimating software. Experience with Bluebeam Revu and AutoCAD preferred. Knowledge of Trimble GPS Rover and data collection a plus. Strong technical understanding of civil projects, machinery, and equipment. Familiarity with construction safety guidelines. Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.
