United Farm and Home Cooperative is hiring a Large Animal Veterinarian to join our
mobile animal health team, serving a fast-paced, field-based practice. While our
primary focus is on cattle operations (cow/calf and stocker), there is growing demand
in our area for veterinary services across a variety of large animal species. You’ll
partner with an experienced veterinarian to deliver high-quality, on-farm care for
livestock producers throughout the Middle Tennessee area. This role is ideal for a
veterinarian who enjoys rural practice, values teamwork, and is passionate about
helping producers improve herd health and productivity.
Key Responsibilities: • Deliver comprehensive veterinary care for large animals, including reproductive services, vaccination protocols, deworming, and disease treatment. • Assist with diagnostics; respond to emergency cases in the field. • Develop herd health plans and work directly with producers on management decisions. • Maintain accurate digital records of farm visits and treatments while working in a mobile setting. • Educate clients and farm staff on animal husbandry, disease prevention, and treatment plans. • Collaborate with the partnering veterinarian and Animal Health team to ensure timely, consistent service.
Qualifications: • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree with valid license (or eligibility) to practice in Tennessee. • Experience in large animal practice preferred. New graduates are encouraged to apply as mentorship opportunities are available. • Valid driver’s license and comfort traveling between farms daily. • Excellent communication and record keeping skills. • Ability to thrive in a mobile, fast-paced work environment and adapt to field conditions. • Familiarity with herd-level consulting, rural animal health, and common southeastern livestock management practices.
