Strava is looking for an experienced and passionate Executive Creative Director to lead the creative function, partnering with marketing (growth, product & brand) and external agencies. This leader will head the creative pillar within a larger design organization and collaborate with product design, design systems, user research, and marketing/communications. We are a subscription-based, consumer business, so this role requires empathy for people who embrace physical activity and movement to live healthier, happier lives. You will drive the brand creative process from big ideas to flawless execution, extending brand expression, and delivering data-backed design. This role reports to the Chief Design Officer and involves close collaboration with marketing leadership to build a broader creative function at Strava. We operate a flexible hybrid model with on-site presence three days per week in NYC, NY or SF, CA. About You

You are an established Executive Creative Director (or Senior Director of Brand Creative) ready to join our Design team. You will quickly impact the work and the team, excel at building relationships, and understand how data drives the work. You will lead, advocate for your vision and team, and demonstrate how creative work deepens brand connection and drives business growth. You will collaborate with the marketing team to weave the brand into culture, and you will evolve a team of creative designers (including photography, motion, and video), copywriters, content designers and production artists to drive relevance with runners and cyclists while expanding to new audiences, especially under 30 women. You will work cross-functionally with Design, Marketing (Brand, Country, Product, Global Communications) and Product to bring the brand to life across consumer touchpoints. As a global leader, you connect with Strava’s mission and translate insights into brand actions and stories. You will cultivate a culture of inclusivity and champion creativity across the organization. What You’ll Do

Be curious about understanding active people and what motivates them to find meaningful ways for Strava to add value. Build and roll up your sleeves to grow the brand through marketing creativity that attracts more community members. Collaborate across product, marketing, communications, partnerships, and revenue functions to elevate brand expression in the athlete’s heart and mind. Be data-obsessed in driving growth via data-backed marketing and product messaging that increases awareness, comprehension, and usage. Value creativity and measurement, showing how brand output drives short-term and long-term business outcomes. Inspire the organization to dream big about the Strava brand and bring it to life in cultural moments that elevate the brand. Drive the brand through social and owned channels and select paid media opportunities, focusing beyond traditional large campaigns. You Will Be Successful Here By

15+ years of experience building digital brands with expertise in marketing communications, organic social, product messaging, and growth marketing. A respected leader who motivates and leads from the front, with global leadership experience and a strong portfolio. Ability to lead and empower a creative team with a clear vision for the work and a compelling creative voice. Data-driven decision making and strong business acumen. Comfort operating without a fixed playbook and driving a culture of creativity, experimentation, and learning. Strong collaboration and clear communication in a fast-paced environment, including directing contractors and agencies. Willingness to think creatively about driving brand awareness with limited traditional advertising channels. Compensation Overview

We use a market-based pay approach. Salary ranges are determined by location and role. Base compensation is listed below; equity and benefits are determined separately. Starting pay is based on job-related skills, experience, location, and market conditions. For details, contact your talent partner. Compensation: $255,000 - $265,000.
