Role Overview: We're seeking a seasoned architectural professional to take on a pivotal leadership role in guiding the technical execution of complex civic and public sector projects. This position blends design stewardship, team mentorship, and cross-disciplinary coordination, ensuring that every project reflects excellence from concept through construction. The ideal candidate is a licensed architect with a strong background in justice, civic, or institutional design, and a passion for sustainable, high-performance environments.

Key Functions: Design Execution & Oversight Translate high-level design vision into detailed technical documentation. Lead the development of construction drawings and specifications in collaboration with internal and external teams. Ensure design continuity and integrity throughout all project phases. Define digital workflows and BIM strategies, including file structure and data integration. Establish drawing standards and software configurations for project teams.

Project Coordination & Quality Assurance Serve as the technical point of contact for consultants, contractors, and vendors. Oversee compliance with QA/QC protocols and industry best practices. Review and validate technical deliverables including reports, calculations, and estimates. Supervise junior staff in the production of architectural documentation. Conduct field reviews, site visits, and construction meetings.

Team Leadership & Mentorship Guide and support emerging professionals through coaching and performance feedback. Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions and contribute to internal development initiatives. Promote a collaborative and inclusive team culture. Champion sustainable design practices and green workplace initiatives.

Client Engagement Build trust and maintain open communication with client stakeholders. Participate in design reviews, progress updates, and final presentations. Interpret client needs and translate them into actionable design solutions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration Coordinate with planning, engineering, and design disciplines to ensure project alignment. Manage shared digital assets and documentation across teams. Interface with regulatory agencies to secure approvals and resolve compliance issues. Support specification development and product research.

Strategic Contribution Participate in business development efforts, including client targeting and proposal strategy. Contribute to market-specific expertise and thought leadership.

Required Expertise: Deep understanding of architectural systems, construction methods, and material applications. Advanced proficiency in Revit; familiarity with AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp, and Grasshopper preferred. Strong grasp of sustainable design principles and LEED certification standards. Knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, and construction administration. Skilled in technical writing, documentation, and digital coordination. Effective communicator with strong leadership and organizational skills.

Qualifications: Professional degree in Architecture (Bachelor's required; Master's preferred). Minimum of 10 years of experience in architectural practice, with a focus on public-sector projects. Licensed Architect with active registration; NCARB certification preferred. LEED accreditation (or willingness to obtain within 6 months). Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing complex project workflows. Portfolio showcasing relevant work and clearly outlining individual contributions.
