A private equity-backed construction firm is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its growing team. This role will play a key part in the month-end close process, financial reporting and maintaining the integrity of the company’s general ledger.

This is a hands-on opportunity for an accounting professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and wants to help shape financial processes as the company scales across the Southeastern United States.

Position Overview This is a hybrid role based in Columbia, South Carolina, offering a flexible schedule with a mix of in-office collaboration and remote work. Compensation is competitive and includes a comprehensive benefits package aligned with the candidate’s experience.

Key Responsibilities Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting schedules for monthly, quarterly and annual close cycles. Perform variance analysis and explain key financial results. Ensure accuracy of the general ledger, financial statements and reports. Support consolidation and intercompany accounting across multiple entities. Prepare financial statements in compliance with US GAAP for internal and external stakeholders. Collaborate with auditors to support audit and compliance requirements. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing and collections. Provide backup for payroll processing and maintain payroll-related ledger accounts. Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis. Work cross-functionally with operations, finance and leadership to resolve accounting issues and support business initiatives. Contribute to process improvements, automation efforts and ERP system enhancements.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience (typically five or more years). CPA strongly preferred Solid understanding of GAAP and business analysis Experience with financial systems; QuickBooks Desktop and Sage Intacct are a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to generate actionable insights. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau preferred. High integrity and discretion when working with sensitive financial information.
