Cabling Design Architect (RCDD) -Part time Position Overview The Cabling Design Architect is responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing structured cabling and telecommunications infrastructure projects. This includes developing detailed design documents, ensuring compliance with industry standards, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and providing technical leadership from concept through implementation. The role ensures that all cabling systems are reliable, scalable, and aligned with customer requirements while supporting long-term operational efficiency. In this role, you will work in close partnership with Development Group’s finance, sales and services teams to represent Development Group’s core values and company goals. This non-exempt position reports to the Construction Services Manager. Hourly Range $32.00/hr. – $55.00/hr. Essential Position Functions ·

Assist with the design of structured cabling systems, telecommunications rooms, data centers, and related infrastructure. Produce detailed design documents including drawings, specifications, and bill of materials. Ensure all designs comply with BICSI, NEC, TIA/EIA, and local building codes. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and installation teams to ensure seamless project delivery. Review and approve cabling layouts, pathways, racks, and grounding systems. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and engineers. Engage with customers to gather requirements, present design solutions, and address technical inquiries. Other Responsibilities

Conduct site surveys and assessments to validate design feasibility. Knowledge of

structured cabling testing and certification tools

(e.g., Fluke Networks testers). Experience creating

as-built documentation

and managing record drawings. Familiarity with

security systems cabling

(CCTV, access control, intrusion detection). Understanding of

building codes, ADA requirements, and safety standards

related to cabling infrastructure. Knowledge of

data center design standards

(Uptime Institute, BICSI 002, ASHRAE). Familiarity with

outside plant (OSP) cabling design

(aerial and underground). Ability to coordinate with

architects, general contractors, and electrical engineers

during design and construction phases. Experience with

BIM modeling tools

(Revit, Navisworks) for coordination in large projects. Strong

problem-solving skills

for addressing field issues during design-build projects. Ability to prepare and present

technical proposals

and participate in RFP/RFQ processes. Required Skills and Qualifications •

Required:

RCDD Certification (Registered Communications Distribution Designer). •

1+ years of experience in structured cabling and telecom infrastructure design. •

Strong knowledge of fiber optic, copper cabling, and wireless system integration. •

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software. •

Solid understanding of standards: BICSI, ANSI/TIA/EIA, NEC. •

Excellent communication, documentation, and client-facing skills. •

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. •

Must be able to pass a back ground check and a Live Scan check. Physical Demands in an Office Environment
