Job Title: Warehouse Shipping Lead Department: Operations / Warehouse Reports To: Shipping Supervisor / Warehouse Manager Position Summary: The Warehouse Shipping Lead is responsible for guiding and assisting a team in the daily execution of warehouse shipping operations. This includes staging, verifying, loading, and dispatching outbound orders. The Shipping Lead ensures shipments are prepared accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures and customer requirements, while serving as a key resource for team members and a liaison to supervision. Key Responsibilities:

Lead and assist a team of warehouse associates in daily shipping activities, including order staging, verification, loading, and documentation.

Ensure timely and accurate shipment of all outbound orders, meeting customer deadlines and carrier schedules.

Coordinate with the processing and packing teams to ensure orders are ready for shipment and discrepancies are resolved.

Verify shipping labels, documentation, and pallet configurations to ensure accuracy and compliance with customer or carrier requirements.

Train new and existing associates on proper shipping procedures, safety practices, and use of material handling equipment.

Monitor daily workflow, productivity, and loading schedules within the shipping area, and report delays or issues to the Shipping Supervisor.

Troubleshoot and resolve minor shipping discrepancies or issues on the floor.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the shipping area, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and company policies.

Communicate effectively with supervisors, other leads, and team members to ensure smooth operational flow between departments.

Assist with end-of-day shipment reconciliation, manifesting, and carrier pickups.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Shipping Supervisor or Warehouse Manager.

Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or vocational training preferred.

Experience: 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment, with direct experience in shipping, loading, or outbound logistics.

1+ year of experience in a lead, senior, or training role preferred.

Technical Skills: Proficient in operating material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts, dock equipment) – certification preferred but not required.

Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and shipping software (e.g., FedEx, UPS, LTL platforms).

Basic computer proficiency, especially for shipment tracking, label generation, and inventory lookups.

Soft Skills: Strong leadership potential and ability to guide a team.

Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

Highly detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.

Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.

Adaptability to shifting priorities and workload volumes.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb for extended periods.

Ability to work in various warehouse conditions, including temperature fluctuations and exposure to loading dock environments.
