As the Business Development & Marketing Specialist at the Better Business Bureau (BBB), you will play a hands-on role in driving revenue growth and strengthening BBB’s impact in the St. Louis and Ottawa markets. Reporting to the Director of Business Development, this role is responsible for developing and executing non-dues revenue strategies, overseeing advertising and sponsorship programs, and supporting long-term website and digital marketing initiatives. The Business Development & Marketing Specialist serves as a trusted partner to Accredited Businesses and stakeholders, manages key revenue programs and vendor relationships, and drives initiatives that advance BBB’s mission while meeting financial goals. You will normally work 37.5 hours per week in our hybrid work environment -- both from home and at the St. Louis BBB office. BBB is a purpose-driven, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing an ethical marketplace where buyers and sellers trust each other. Here is what you’ll do: Drive strategic revenue growth by managing BBB’s non-dues revenue programs, including advertising, sponsorships, and digital marketing initiatives. Oversee program operations—such as search engine marketing (including Google Ads), Torch Partnership ads, event sponsorships, and co-branded advertising—ensuring smooth onboarding, invoicing, and account management. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to execute BBB’s long-range website, branding, and marketing strategies. Monitor budgets, track performance data, and optimize vendor relationships to achieve financial goals. Build strong relationships with Accredited Businesses, charities, consumers, and staff through clear communication and effective engagement. Stay current on industry trends and pursue ongoing professional development to strengthen business development and marketing expertise. Here is what will help you be successful: Demonstrates determination, integrity, empathy, perseverance, and patience. Comfortable tracking metrics, analyzing performance, and adjusting strategies to meet financial goals. Experience in digital advertising sales preferred. Understanding of Google Analytics and ability to communicate insights to BBB stakeholders. Proven ability to leverage new technologies and methodologies to generate revenue. Sales experience preferred. Strong collaboration and partnership-building skills. Excellent verbal and written communication. Project management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse teams. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multitasking environment. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. Proactive problem-solving and self-management. Creativity and innovation in meeting challenging deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Effective in both remote and in-office environments. Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
