General Field Superintendent Job Description Summary / Objective The Superintendent is responsible for managing the field operations of large-scale commercial construction projects from site preparation through project completion. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards, plans, and specifications. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. · Plan, direct, and supervise all on-site construction activities for projects. · Provide clear direction to construction foremen, subcontractors, and vendors. · Review existing site conditions, project plans, and specifications to identify constructability issues and ensure compliance with governing authority regulations. · Supervise, coordinate, and schedule all subcontractors to meet project milestones and deadlines. · Ensure subcontractors fully execute and comply with their contracted scopes of work. · Coordinate and schedule all required inspections. · Identify conflicts or delays in construction progress and communicate solutions to the project team. · Enforce safety protocols and OSHA safety standards; conduct regular safety meetings. · Implement and monitor the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Best Management Practices (BMP) for site compliance. · Oversee quality control for concrete forming, casting, panel erection, and warehouse fit-out. · Prepare and submit accurate daily reports detailing activities, incidents, delays, weather conditions, and progress. · Report weekly payroll with proper job and cost code allocation. · Assist with project estimating and budgeting, providing field input on scope and constructability. Supervisory Responsibility This position has direct supervisory responsibility for on-site personnel, including foremen, craft workers, and subcontractor crews. Travel Travel between jobsites is required. Education & Experience · Minimum 5+ years of experience as a superintendent or in a leadership role on commercial construction projects. · Proven experience with large-scale warehouse construction, including site grading, concrete forming/pouring, panel erection, and structural steel integration. · Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications. · Strong understanding of sequencing and scheduling for tilt-up construction activities. · Ability to identify deficient work and implement corrective solutions. · Skilled at providing effective directions to jobsite personnel and subcontractors. · Proficient with laptops/tablets for daily reports and payroll submission. · Excellent oral and written communication skills. · OSHA 30 certification preferred. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. · Regular exposure to outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. · Work performed in active construction environments with moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, and airborne particles. · Noise levels are typically loud. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. · Work is performed both indoors and outdoors at construction sites. · Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. · Ability to use standard office equipment such as computers, tablets, and mobile devices for reporting and communication. · Visual and auditory ability to safely navigate an active construction site and communicate effectively. · Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
