Product Designer (Contract)
Location : Remote
Duration : 3 months (possible extension)
Compensation : $3,000-5,000 USD / month
About the Role
Our client is a stealth-mode HR-tech startup on a mission to revolutionize how people managers and employees interact with talent data. They build clean, intuitive interfaces that turn complex HR workflows, like performance reviews, skills development, and workforce planning into delightful experiences.
Role Overview
You will be the lead designer on two fronts :
Audit & Modernize the existing HR platform, delivering production-ready, high-fidelity mockups.
Design & Launch v1.0 of a new product module, collaborating with product managers and engineers.
Youll own end-to-end UX / UI across web and mobile in a scrappy, fast-paced startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
UX Research
Plan and run user interviews, surveys, and usability tests with HR stakeholders and end users
Synthesize insights into clear, actionable recommendations
Design & Prototyping
Craft wireframes, interactive prototypes, and pixel-perfect mockups in Figma (or equivalent) for desktop and mobile
Iterate designs based on stakeholder and user feedback
Design System
Create and maintain a scalable component library, style guide, and pattern library tailored for HR workflows
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with engineers to ensure designs are implemented faithfully
Present design rationale, trade-offs, and roadmaps to Product and Engineering teams
Be flexible to hop on early-morning or evening calls with our India-based team
Must-Have Qualifications
3+ years of product design experience in HR-tech, B2B SaaS, or other data-driven applications
Proven track record of auditing and modernizing existing products and designing new modules end-to-end
Strong portfolio that clearly shows research ideation prototyping final UI delivery
Expert-level proficiency in Figma, Sketch, or similar tools
Solid grounding in interaction design principles, information architecture, and usability best practices
Excellent communicator with the ability to articulate design decisions and trade-offs
Nice-to-Have
Experience designing people-analytics or talent-management dashboards
Prior work establishing or scaling a design system
Early-stage startup mindset, comfortable moving fast with limited info
Contract Details
Start Date : Flexible (ideally within 24 weeks of offer)
Hours : 3040 hours / week (flexible schedule)
