Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide 24-hour call coverage for trauma and acute care surgery cases
- Conduct inpatient rounds and complete associated charting (Trauma: 3 hours; Acute Care Surgery: 2 hours)
- Perform surgical procedures in the operating room (Trauma: 0-4 hours; Acute Care Surgery: 1-4 hours)
- Respond to emergency room consults (Trauma: 2-4 hours; Acute Care Surgery: 1-3 hours)
- Attend to hospital or ER consults as required
- Provide clinic coverage up to twice weekly (0-2 hours per session)
- Manage acute fracture cases and upper extremity trauma as needed
Additional Information
- California medical license required
- Board certification in General Surgery required
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Fluoroscopy Certification required
- SCC certification or significant ICU management experience required, with 16 hours of trauma CME
- Acute fracture experience required
- Trauma/Surgical Critical Care fellowship preferred
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience preferred
- Interest in upper extremity work is preferred
