Locums Physician Assistant - General Surgery Opportunity - Novi, Michigan Clinical Role:

Coverage dates: Immediate start through December 31, 2025 (option to remain credentialed PRN afterward)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts ( 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., flexible start/end times), 40 hours per week
No call
Zero clinic obligation. 100% OR
Location: Two campuses, Level II Trauma Center
Practice setting: Hospital-based OR with 20+ operating rooms and 3 DaVinci robots

Responsibilities:

Robotic case breakdown: Colorectal 3-6% of cases, General Surgery (including bariatric) 50-55%, Gyn Surgery 36%, Urology Surgery 6-8%
Bedside first-assisting in robotic surgical cases including GYN, urology, general surgery, and bariatrics
There are 2 robots needing coverage at one facility vs only one at the other facility. However, any candidate should consider as much as a 50/50 split in any given week
Placement of ports and closure of port sites
Occasional assistance in non-robotic cases as needed
Occasional discharge documentation and outpatient prescriptions
Collaboration with surgeons and residents in all cases (senior residents typically at console; junior residents may assist bedside)
Support from scrub techs and circulating nurses

Candidate Requirements:

NCCPA certification (required)
Active Michigan medical license (required; must already hold license)
BLS & ACLS through AHA (required)
Minimum 2-3 years of robotic bedside first-assist experience in GYN, urology, general surgery, and bariatrics (required)
EMR experience with Cerner preferred
