The Axel Group is partnered with a premier construction firm in Monmouth County that is looking to add an Estimator to their team. This role is critical to the success of projects, as you will be responsible for accurately developing cost estimates, analyzing plans and specifications, and ensuring competitive, profitable bids for high-end residential and commercial landscape construction projects across the tri-state area.
Key Responsibilities Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for site work, hardscape, landscape, utilities, and related scopes. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing; maintain relationships with key suppliers. Prepare comprehensive cost estimates and bid proposals ranging from small enhancements to multi-million-dollar projects. Develop scopes of work and clarify inclusions/exclusions with project managers and clients. Collaborate with project management team to hand off awarded projects, providing clear estimate breakdowns and scope details. Track historical project data to improve accuracy of future estimates. Assist in budgeting and value engineering when needed. Stay current with industry costs, materials, and market conditions.
Qualifications 3+ years of estimating experience in construction, preferably in landscape, site work, or civil construction. Strong ability to read and analyze construction plans and specifications. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff) is a plus. Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills. Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
