Job Description
The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound utilizing high-frequency sound waves to assist medical and professional personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities.
Responsibilities
Perform procedures according to departmental format while completing exams in the allotted time.
Conduct daily clerical duties using EPIC, Tele tracking System, and other computer systems.
Conduct portable ultrasound exams and complex technical tasks in accordance with prescribed sonographic procedures.
Determine, prepare, and set up medical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and explain procedures while measuring and positioning them for each anatomical view.
Evaluate the technical quality of images and obtain/process necessary images.
Maintain records of ultrasound taken, archiving, and de-archiving data as required.
Calibrate, clean, and perform routine maintenance on ultrasound equipment.
Provide technical assistance and instruction to students, employees, and medical residents.
Lift a minimum of 25 lbs. and stand for a minimum of 6 hours a day.
Adhere to safety, infection control, and disaster policies while providing patient care.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Must have CPR certification.
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification required.
Graduate of an approved Ultrasound School.
Two years of training in Allied Health/College is mandatory.
One year of clinical experience in ultrasound is preferred.
Knowledge of ultrasound equipment, cross-sectional anatomy, and patient care procedures.
