Estimator – Concrete Construction Location: Washington, DC Salary: $100,000–$120,000 + Excellent Benefits Our client, a premier commercial concrete contractor with a reputation for delivering some of the D.C. area’s largest and most complex cast-in-place projects, is expanding its preconstruction team. With a strong backlog of high-profile commercial work and concrete packages valued up to $10M, they present a rare opportunity to join a growing division and help shape its future. This role goes beyond quantity takeoffs — it’s a leadership position where your expertise will directly drive wins and influence how some of the region’s most ambitious commercial structures are built. Your Impact: Lead the estimating effort on a wide range of ground-up commercial projects, including office towers, mixed-use developments, healthcare facilities, and institutional buildings. Serve as a key strategic partner, providing input on constructability, value engineering, and risk mitigation throughout the preconstruction phase. Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, developers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure comprehensive and competitive bids. Develop and refine estimating processes, tools, and standards for a high-performing preconstruction team. A Day in the Life: Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using industry-leading software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff). Analyze project specifications and drawings to develop accurate material, labor, and equipment cost estimates. Solicit and evaluate pricing from vendors and subcontractors to ensure complete and competitive coverage. Prepare conceptual budgets during early design phases and detailed estimates for final bid submission. Compile professional bid proposals that clearly outline costs, assumptions, and exclusions. Collaborate with operations teams to ensure seamless handoff and execution post-award. What You Bring: 2+ years of dedicated concrete estimating experience, preferably within large-scale commercial projects. A proven track record of successfully bidding complex cast-in-place concrete packages. Technical Mastery:
High proficiency with On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Microsoft Excel, and estimating software. A Strategic Mindset:
