POSITION: Electrician REPORTS TO: Senior Electrician/Coord. Of Building & Grounds ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: This position is accountable for work involved in the troubleshooting, installation, programming, repair, maintenance and testing of fire alarms, electrical wiring, fixtures, data wiring, clocks, bell, intercoms, phones, security systems, CCTV, lighting control systems, equipment and apparatus of various types of systems and circuits. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:(to be included along with other responsibilities) This position is accountable for the following: 1. Responsible for performing skilled electrical work at the highest quality level following all federal, state and local regulations and codes. 2. Inspects, repairs, installs, alters, services, and maintains electrical systems, including conduit and duct systems, light and power systems, motor appliances, generators, control equipment and switches, switchboards, fans, heaters, fixtures, boilers, bell and buzzer systems, clocks, and fire alarm systems. 3. Responsible for installing, testing, repairing and maintaining electrical circuits, wiring systems, conduits, motors, transformers, appliances, fixtures and equipment. 4. Responsible for installing, maintaining and troubleshooting of fire alarms, data wiring, clocks, bell, intercoms, phones, security systems, CCTV, and lighting control systems. 5. Responsible for interfacing with various electrical and/or fire protection-related contractors. 6. Responsibility for assisting in loading, assembling, etc., necessary equipment. 7. Maintain records of work performed including labor and materials used; receive work orders and determine priorities, using the district's computerized maintenance management software (CMMS). 8. Complete and close out CMMS work orders appropriately. 9. Ability to read and interpret plans, sketches and blueprints as well as assist other employees in the review of construction documents for both new and renovation projects. 10. Assist outside contractors as needed and assist with design and review of in- house projects. 11. Responsible for responding to emergency calls after-hours as needed. 12. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. LICENSES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate 2. Must possess a Valid Massachusetts State driver's license. 3. Minimum five years of full-time experience as a licensed electrician with a valid Massachusetts Journeyman's (Master's preferred) electrician license. 4. Must possess certification in various fire alarm systems. 5. Must pass a CORI/SORI Background check. 6. Required to wear/use appropriate safety clothing/equipment at all times. WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. 2. Required to work at heights or in narrow spaces to service equipment. 3. Required to stand for prolonged periods; 4. Periodically required to lift and carry heavy supplies or equipment; 5. Occasionally required to wear protective clothing; 6. Occasionally required to work outdoors in inclement weather. 7. Must be available to respond to emergency calls after hours 8. Requires travel between work sites within the city. 9. Works in all weather conditions, at heights, and in enclosed spaces with limited access. 10. Availability to work overtime, including weekends, as necessary. 11. Must have basic computer knowledge for time entry, preventative maintenance and work orders. 12. Good verbal and written communication.
