Position Overview:
As a Truss Designer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and engineering of high-quality truss systems for multifamily residential structures. Your expertise in truss design, construction methodologies, and industry standards will contribute to the successful delivery of projects that meet or exceed client expectations. This role is open to candidates located in Sacramento, CA, or those residing on the West Coast who are open to remote work.
Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to develop innovative and efficient truss designs that adhere to project specifications and local building codes. Utilize specialized software (e.g., MiTek, Alpine, etc.) to create accurate truss layouts and designs for multifamily residential buildings. Review architectural and structural plans to identify design requirements, load considerations, and construction constraints. Optimize truss designs for material efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and structural integrity. Generate detailed technical drawings, layouts, and specifications for manufacturing and construction teams. Participate in design review meetings and provide technical expertise to resolve design challenges and discrepancies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and advancements in truss design and construction methodologies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution and timely delivery. Provide support and guidance to junior designers and drafters, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development. Qualifications:
Associates Degree in Drafting, Design, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 5 years of truss design experience, with a strong focus on multifamily residential projects. Proficiency in truss design software (e.g., MiTek, Alpine, etc.) and AutoCAD. Thorough understanding of local building codes, industry standards, and construction best practices. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed design decisions. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders. Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality work. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Adaptability to remote work and willingness to travel occasionally for on-site meetings or project visits. Multifamily truss design experience strongly preferred. Benefits:
