Emerson Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Educator to support staff development in the Obstetrical Nursing (Labor & Delivery) unit. The Nurse Educator will serve as a role model, consultant, change agent, and facilitator, responsible for assessing learning needs, designing, implementing, and evaluating educational activities. This role is vital in promoting professional development, evidence-based practice, and high standards of care within the obstetrical nursing team.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Director of Obstetrical Nursing and staff to identify and assess learning needs.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate educational activities using adult and pediatric learning principles.
- Develop orientation programs for new staff to ensure individualized support.
- Design and implement annual competency reviews and department-specific training.
- Serve as a clinical expert, resource, and internal consultant in Obstetrical Nursing.
- Participate in departmental and hospital-wide committees (resuscitation, nurse practice council, trauma, stroke, nursing council).
- Promote interprofessional collaboration and coordinate patient/family/community education initiatives.
- Utilize evidence-based practice for policy, procedure development, and educational programs.
- Participate in performance improvement and professional nursing associations.
- Maintain current credentials through continuing education and certifications.
- Education:
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program (Massachusetts).
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (required).
- Master’s degree in Nursing (preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in maternity/OB nursing is required.
- Licensure/Certifications:
- Active Massachusetts RN license.
- BLS Healthcare Provider (required).
- BLS Instructor (required).
- NRP Instructor (required).
- NRP Certification (required).
