Responsibilities
- Greet and interact with customers.
- Consult with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise.
- Assist with customers’ orders by loading and unloading products as needed.
- Maintain product stock in the store and warehouse.
- Assemble products and displays.
- Deliver products to customer delivery points.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment (delivery truck, forklift, etc.) and facilities.
- Dispense propane and kerosene.
- Safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Safely and regularly operate a vehicle to make deliveries, visit various worksites, other businesses or customer locations.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Exhibit an ability to receive feedback, adapt to new processes and continuously develop skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, communicate well and effectively relay information with an emphasis on developing positive professional relationships.
- Practice punctual and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment.
- Possess a valid driver license and maintain a safe driving record.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 60 pounds.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods; walk, bend, stoop and kneel frequently.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to excellence & high standards especially in terms of providing outstanding customer service.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a retail setting
- Product knowledge in one or more of the following areas: feed, seed, pet food & supplies, hardware, fencing, animal health, tack, clothing & footwear, lawn & garden or wild bird supplies
- Experience dispensing propane cylinders
- Experience safely operating pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.
Schedule
This is a part time position; 16 – 32 hours per week (schedule may vary). Sunday through Saturday. Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
Compensation & Benefits
$16.80 – $19.80/hour. In addition to generous employee discounts, the company offers a 401(k) retirement program with up to 5% match and medical benefits to part-time employees upon meeting eligibility requirements.
