Overview

Analytica is seeking a full-time Data Research Analyst to work on a project supporting the Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The position is a remote/telework position although attendance at the client location located just outside of Washington, DC may be required on occasion. The ideal candidate loves to work with data and demonstrates skill with all phases of the data lifecycle including extracting data, treating and transforming it, integrating it with other datasets and performing analysis, reporting and visualizations. The candidate is highly innovative, motivated, process-minded, with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, and has a solid background in working with data and quantitative analysis. Applicants must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and demanding environment and must exhibit hyper attention to detail. The candidate must be equal parts independent and team-oriented. US Citizenship is required and the candidate must be able to clear a Public Trust screening.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Extract data from various IT systems using SQL and other programming languages

  • Work with various types of data to develop, maintain and enhance reports, analyses and models

  • Manage, treat and integrate data in order to create clean, structured data sets for use in reports, analyses, studies and models

  • Conduct both qualitative and quantitative research using client data, formulate hypotheses, test them and present the results in a clear and concise manner

  • Use advanced statistical techniques to identify and measure trends, anomalies, forecast future values and determine other relevant insights

  • Document requirements, processes and develop SOPs

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to mathematics, economics, data science, statistics, or computer science

  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis

  • Experience working with large, disparate datasets from multiple sources/databases

  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL

  • Solid proficiency in Databricks or Tableau software

  • Strong analytical, data extraction and data treatment skills required

  • Ability to quickly understand complex data structures and formulate queries to extract information as needed

  • Ability to think analytically, outside-the-box, and dive to the root cause of situations

  • Ability to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously and prioritize appropriately

  • Ability to gather and interpret large amounts of data and information and quickly recognize what is superfluous and what is relevant using analytical and statistical techniques

  • Ability to build both simple and complex models using client data that fulfill some quantitative purpose/problem asked by the client

  • Ability to quickly understand client business requirements using a variety of methods such as interviews, document analysis, and self-directed research

  • Ability to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact professionally

  • Must be a United States Citizen

  • Nice to have: prior experience with USCIS or immigration

  • Ideally, the candidate is located in the DC, Maryland, Virginia area
