Overview

The Accountant is responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s accounting function, including daily bookkeeping, monthly close, financial reporting, and payroll. This role requires hands-on oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, and reconciliations. The Full Charge Accountant ensures accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all financial records while supporting management with insights to guide decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting

• Manage full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger.
• Oversee daily bookkeeping and ensure transactions are recorded accurately.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Maintain chart of accounts and ensure job costing accuracy.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Support cash flow management through forecasting and analysis.
• Reconcile subsidiary ledgers, vendor accounts, and intercompany transactions.
• Provide variance analysis and reports to management.

Payroll & Compliance

• Process payroll accurately and on time, including deductions and benefits.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal tax requirements.
• Prepare and file sales/use tax, payroll tax, and other statutory filings.
• Support external audits, banking relationships, and insurance reporting.

Operational Support

• Partner with project managers and leadership to track budgets and job profitability.
• Manage vendor relationships and ensure timely payment of invoices.
• Implement and maintain accounting controls and procedures.
• Support technology migrations (e.g., QuickBooks Desktop to Online, JobNimbus integration).

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of full charge accounting or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and full-cycle accounting practices.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop.
• Experience with QuickBooks payroll processing, AP/AR, and reconciliations.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Experience in construction project-based industries.
• Familiarity with estimating tools (e.g., Xactimate) and job costing.
• CPA or progress toward CPA certification.
