Position Overview
Repairs and maintains construction and mechanical equipment such as trucks, trailers, bulldozers, excavators, motor graders, engines, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and more, by performing the following duties.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Troubleshoots problems, making economical and durable repairs.
- Dismantles devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists and hand tools.
- Maintains and repairs heavy equipment, trucks, shop, and non-mobile equipment across the company.
- Services vehicles/equipment including oil changes, greasing, fluid additions, filter changes, and preventative maintenance. Troubleshoots and repairs electrical and hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, and drive trains.
- Orders parts and supplies, maintains purchase orders and invoices, and operates computer systems for job functions.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
- Starts devices to test performance.
- Welds broken parts and structural members.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- May be subject to drug testing, medical exams, and physical agility tests.
Qualifications

Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 5 years of experience as a skilled automotive mechanic, including mechanical maintenance work with heavy-duty construction equipment such as Komatsu and CAT dozers, excavators, motor graders, water trucks, and support vehicles.
Work Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to work well with others, either in groups or one-on-one.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions.
- Proficiency in typing, using keyboards, and knowledge of database software.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Valid driver’s license.
- Customer service skills—managing difficult customer situations and responding promptly to needs.
- Teamwork, sound judgment, effective planning and organizing, professionalism, safety awareness, adaptability, punctuality, dependability, initiative, innovation, and attention to quality.
Physical Requirements
Frequent sitting, climbing, and hand use; occasional standing, walking, crawling, kneeling, bending, reaching; lifting up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
Work environment may include exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, weather extremes, and noise. Reasonable accommodations can be provided for disabilities.
