JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking an experienced Diesel Technician to join our team at 4B Services. The primary responsibility of this role is to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines and equipment for a variety of vehicles, including tractor/trailer combinations, full-size cargo vans, trucks, and other fleet vehicles. Some gasoline engine and general mechanical work may also be required. The Diesel Technician will perform preventative and emergency maintenance, welding, and related mechanical duties in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards.

REPORTS TO: Director of 4B Services

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Productive diagnosis, repair and replacement of general automotive parts and accessories, while complying with company safety and customer service programs as well as established policies and procedures. Weld parts in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers. Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications. Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment. Maintains tools and maintenance equipment in working order. Maintain parts and supplies inventory levels, according to work orders or repairs. Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition & DOT compliant. Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists. Adjust brakes, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment. Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices. Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery. Operating a steam/pressure washer to wash vehicles. General building and property mechanical maintenance as needed. Errand runner as needed. Must be able to work in inclement weather as needed. Ensure compliance and accurate records with OSHA, DOT and company-mandated safety policies. Must adhere to 4B Services safety standards at all times (i.e. PPE). Maintain and monitor warranty repairs. Maintain a clean work area to meet 4B Services' standards. Conduct road service calls to make repairs in the field.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBLITIES: On-Call for service jobs as needed Assumes other duties as assigned by supervisor or Senior Management. Backup to Maintenance Assistant as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license with clear Motor Vehicle Report. Valid Class A Commercial drivers license preferred or

willingness/ability

to obtain license within specified time period. Ability to pass a criminal background check, DOT drug screen and physical. 5+ years of diesel/gas engine maintenance, mechanical, and welding experience preferred. DOT Inspection Certification preferred or

willingness/ability

to obtain certification within specified time period. Mechanical skills associated with auto and truck fleet maintenance required. Manufacturing training and/or factory training. 2-year diesel degree preferred. General hand tool knowledge. Ability to perform physical duties of the job. This includes ability to lift 22-50 lbs. frequently; 162 lbs. occasionally. Knowledge and practice of DOT and environmental regulations, relevant equipment policies, procedures and strategies to comply with local, state and federal regulations. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills. Willingness to learn and follow directions. Ability to work independently. Dependable, flexible and a self starter with an excellent attitude. Ability to operate a forklift. Excellent ability to follow verbal or written instructions. High energy level with ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships. Hours M-F (5:00AM - 2:00PM )
