Civil Traveling Superintendent

Travel Required

My client is seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent to join a nationally recognized, award-winning civil construction company. This role is focused on leading multiple civil-sector projects while ensuring safety, quality, profitability, and exceptional client service.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead crews and subcontractors in the safe, productive execution of heavy civil construction activities, including earthwork, utilities, grading, and concrete structures.
  • Model and enforce a zero-harm safety culture through daily hazard analyses, safety briefings, and compliance checks.
  • Coordinate labor, equipment, and material needs while monitoring costs, productivity, and schedules.
  • Train, mentor, and support foremen and field staff on technical and safety best practices.
  • Interpret and implement project drawings, specifications, and DOT requirements.
  • Utilize GPS layout tools, machine control systems, and HCSS Heavy Job for field productivity tracking.
  • Travel as required, often to out-of-town projects for extended durations.

Jon Qualifications

  • 10–15+ years of civil construction experience, with supervisory or leadership background.
  • Proven experience in one or more sectors: industrial, energy, federal/public, or rail.
  • Valid Class B CDL (Class A preferred for rail work).
  • Strong skills in GPS layout tools, ATS/UTS, and machine control systems.
  • OSHA 30-hour, First Aid, and CPR certifications (or ability to obtain).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and DOT specifications.
  • Flexible and willing to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as needed.
  • Physically able to work outdoors on active construction sites in varied weather conditions.
