Standard Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:0am - 4:00pm. MUST be willing to be flexible as jobs may change.
Position Summary:
The
Low Volage Sr Estimator
is responsible for analyzing and preparing project cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and other resources. This role supports pre-construction activities, ensures accurate and timely bids, collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, and may provide mentorship to junior estimating staff.
Position Responsibilities: Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Perform detailed takeoffs for trade systems including electrical, HVAC, or plumbing. Utilize estimating software (e.g., Accubid) for accurate entry of takeoffs and cost components. Issue and track RFIs as needed for clarification of plans and specs. Solicit, review, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes for accuracy and completeness. Create detailed and clear bid proposals, including inclusions and exclusions. Collaborate with general contractors, vendors, and clients to clarify scope and pricing. Make cost adjustments based on project-specific conditions (e.g., long runs, congested areas). Maintain documentation including notes, quote logs, and project folders. Update databases and cost libraries based on market trends and vendor feedback. Follow up with clients regarding bid and proposal statuses. Coordinate pre-bid and post-bid meetings with internal project teams. Assist project managers with budget setup and change order estimates as needed. Contribute to selecting which projects to pursue in collaboration with department leadership. Mentor and support junior estimators throughout the estimating process. If Applicable: Assist with business development efforts and estimator workload management. Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Required: High school diploma or GED. Required: 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial or residential construction. Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook), Bluebeam, and estimating software. Required: Fire alarm, AOR, BDA or low-voltage system estimating experience Required: Mult-family construction experience Preferred: Supervisory or mentoring experience. Preferred: Working knowledge of the national and state relevant codes. Preferred: Ability to read and interpret all phases of construction drawings. Preferred: Experience with NICET Qualifications Preferred: Experience creating estimates for projects ranging from $50,000 to $8,000,000.
Physical Demands: Must be able to sit at a desk and/or computer for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
