Overton ISD is seeking a dependable, team-oriented
Batch Cook
to join our Child Nutrition team. This position plays a key role in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for students ranging from early childhood through 12th grade. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for feeding children, strong organizational skills, and the ability to adapt to a changing daily menu and production needs. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook large quantities of food items according to established recipes and production schedules. Assist with recipe adjustments to meet federal nutrition guidelines and student preferences. Ensure proper portion control, food safety, and sanitation practices in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. Work collaboratively with Child Nutrition staff to receive deliveries, store supplies, and maintain an organized kitchen. Float between food preparation, cooking, serving, and clean-up duties as needed based on menu and staffing requirements. Maintain accurate production and temperature records. Support special dietary needs or substitutions for students as directed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Director. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Previous food preparation or cooking experience in a school, institutional, or commercial kitchen (preferred but not required). Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lift up to 40 pounds. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Dependability, flexibility, and a positive attitude. Schedule & Compensation Full-time, following the school calendar. Typical hours: Early morning to mid-afternoon (exact schedule to be determined).
