Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide direct clinical care to hematology/oncology patients using evidence-based practice standards
- Collaborate with supervising physician, registered nurses, and licensed practical nurses
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record of evaluations, diagnoses, treatments, procedures, referrals, and consultations
- Perform approved therapeutic and diagnostic procedures based on patient clinical status
- Refer to supervising physician as appropriate and when outside scope of practice
- Educate and counsel patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, and preventive care
- Serve as a role model for peers and health care team members
- Participate in accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities
Additional Information
- Minimum 3 years of recent hematology/oncology experience required
- Active New York state license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- AOCNP certification preferred; board eligible candidates considered
