The above are locations of the practice s clinics and hospitals; all are approximately a 20-minute drive from each other, with each clinic located near its affiliated hospital.
COMPANY PROFILE:
This privately-owned surgical practice opened in 2012 and, today, operates with 4 physicians and 2 physician assistants. Together they staff 3 private practice offices and perform surgeries at neighboring hospitals in Teaneck, Oakland, and Emerson. They specialize in both general and colorectal surgeries, including surgical oncology, hernia, gallbladder disease, and advanced laparoscopic procedures.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The new physician assistant (PA) will work closely with a surgeon specializing in hernia, gallbladder, appendix, skin and soft tissue, and colon surgeries.
Services of the practice include, but are not limited to:
- hernia surgery
- gallbladder removal
- biopsies
- appendix removal
- colon and small bowel resection
- hemorrhoid surgery
- rectal tumor/polyp excision
The new PA will work in the inpatient setting, outpatient clinic, surgical centers, and have on-call duties. The details of this include:
In the inpatient setting, providers round on 5 to 8 patients per day.
In the outpatient setting, providers have an average of 5 appointments per day and work short days.
In all settings, there are clinical assistants and/or nurses available to assist.
The new PA will work collaboratively with the surgeon and serve as first assist, and will have autonomous practice in the clinic.
The PA will be on-call every five (5) weeks. The PA will only go in with the physician, never alone. Other weeks are scheduled with lighter volume and fewer hours to ensure work/life balance.
REQUIREMENTS:
- New Jersey PA license
- prescriptive authority
- strong interest in surgical work
- no experience required
