This is an unpaid internship. The Healthy Living Internship is designed to provide an experiential learning environment for individuals seeking to learn and grow in the field of wellness, culinary arts and communications. The intern will have the opportunity to explore multiple endeavors while spending time at the Cabarrus Health Alliance. Healthy Living Interns are asked to be engaged, share ideas, and have an open mind while learning and working. Illustrative

Duties/Responsibilities: Facilitate cooking demonstrations for our Kids in the Kitchen series Develop and organize content for our Healthy Living social marketing campaign Implement programming for employees to increase mindfulness and stress management Assist with planning and implementing our agency wide walking challenge and other health challenges Support other Healthy Living initiatives such as the implementation of our onsite community garden Other duties and opportunities will be assigned and provided based on the intern’s time, availability, and interest Education/Experience:

Pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in public health, health education,

nutrition/dietetics,

or human services preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: An interest in health education, culinary arts and public health and/or community engagement is needed Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work with diverse groups are critical Strong communication skills are needed within in-person and virtual settings Knowledge of theories, principles and practices associated with public health policy, community-based health promotion and communications, social marketing, and program management Knowledge of community-based participatory action principles; understanding of community-building principles and techniques is imperative Our Mission To improve individual and community health through services, education, and collaborative action.
