Open Energy Solutions Inc. (OES) is an early-stage services and software development company that is enabling utilities and utility vendors to enhance power system operations through the development and implementation of distributed intelligence and enabling technologies. Role: OES is seeking an "IT/OT Utility Engineer" to join OES in designing, configuring, and testing grid systems while managing solution deployments to our utility clients. You'll work with both OES and customer teams to configure, implement, and support diverse environments from labs to field installations. The successful candidate will have comprehensive experience with utility IT/OT systems and device integration as well as practical utility experience gained either directly or through vendor partnerships Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following: Understand and apply

knowledge/experience

of utility distribution power systems, software, integration and automation practices, industrial controls, PLCs, and industry protocols (e.g., IEC-61850, DNP3, Modbus, OCPP) Develop/Implement SCADA strategies for various utility grid configurations, including DER sites Troubleshoot

hardware/software/system

issues associated with grid technology solutions via root cause analysis or other proven methodologies Proven knowledge of IT/OT architectural frameworks in varied operational environments, with hands-on experience using testing, deployment, and automation toolset Ability to understand, produce, and/or document customer and project requirements Assist with software validation and verification testing Assist with defining and setting up any or all aspects of the development lifecycle (from design to support) related to customer projects or internal asset development Coordinate communication within internal OES groups and external customers Provide periodic reporting of project status to management, the customer, or other stakeholders Collaborate with the team with well-communicated and documented processes` Foundational, Required Capabilities: Bachelor's degree in

Electrical/Computer

Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field of study (additional experience can substitute for one of these degrees) 3-5+ years of experience with power systems: electrical utility, automation vendor, software, integration, etc. Basic understanding of Microgrid and Power System components such as PV, Energy Storage, Inverters, Real-time Automation Controls. Networking & Connectivity: Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, subnetting, NAT, DHCP, DNS, VLANs; configuring and troubleshooting firewalls, routers, switches, wireless controllers Comprehension of

timing/synchronization

protocols such as PTP and NTP Requisite level of understanding with utility grids to follow a discussion, share expertise, make recommendations, and document/perform action items with minimal assistance Ability to apply experience and knowledge to design, test, and deploy technology solutions as it pertains to the grid and its devices Ability to project professionalism both internally with co-workers and externally with customers & possibly investors Desired/Optional Capabilities: Proficiency with programing and data analytics (Python, C++, JavaScript, Bash, SQL) Linux experience Experience with deployment, installation, and configuration of containerized software applications in an IoT environment within some segment of an electrical grid Experience with common IoT/IIot programs and databases such as Grafana, InfluxDB and TimescaleDB Travel: Possibly up to 25-30% on average, but negotiable
