The Executive Medical Science Liaison has the primary responsibility of building key opinion leader (KOL) partnerships by engaging in scientific data exchange and medical information with external stakeholders (HCPs, researchers, professional organizations, patient advocacy groups, and formulary decision-makers) in the assigned Therapeutic Areas—Respiratory (COPD/Asthma)—within the Northwest geography. Responsibilities include delivering clinical, scientific and technical education; establishing long-term peer-to-peer relationships; and listening to integrate customer insights into the organization. Candidates should live in/near Seattle, Spokane or Boise; other NW US cities may be considered. Responsibilities
Scientific Exchange, advice seeking and clinical development support Build external partnerships with recognized KOLs to address scientific needs and stay abreast of current trends Identify and develop key thought leaders for medical education, clinical research and publications Cultivate KOL relationships for advisory boards, sponsored research, investigator-initiated projects, and speaker development Provide KOL perspectives to field managers and teams Offer medical support and scientific education to HCPs at key institutions Foster professional relationships in the assigned geography Enable cross-functional engagement based on customer needs Identify real-world evidence needs within the therapeutic area Represent Chiesi USA Medical Affairs at national, regional, and local meetings Provide field-based medical affairs support for investigator-initiated and company-led clinical research Initiated trials or collaborative initiatives Deliver high-caliber medical education presentations Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence in line with Company policies Participate in internal therapeutic advisory groups Plan with business partners to align and optimize customer experience Therapeutic Support, Internal Collaboration and Project Work Lead and support internal medical projects aligned to development plans Support cross-functional projects and integrate medical input Contribute to publication planning, clinical research, medical education material development, and internal training Contribute to monthly medical meetings including journal clubs Mentor new team members and support onboarding Administrative Work Accurate and timely documentation of field activities, expenses, and reports Complete required training on time and with acceptable scores Maintain high level of expertise in assigned therapeutic areas and credentials Experience Required
Post-graduate residency with 7-10 years of MSL experience in Respiratory (exception for PhD candidates with relevant experience) Prior launch experience in Asthma/COPD strongly preferred Builds and leverages relationships to identify opportunities and partnerships Works effectively on diverse, multi-disciplinary teams Demonstrates discipline, prioritization and ability to manage multiple responsibilities High self-awareness, growth mindset, flexibility Scientific and clinical expertise in the therapeutic area including real-world evidence and business acumen Exceptional written and verbal communication; persuasive in presentations Ability to challenge and engage with KOLs and HCPs tactfully Active listening, curiosity, insightful questioning Diplomacy while upholding evidence-based positions Strong internal and external communication to build relationships Thorough knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and hospital credentialing processes (credentials include drug test) Education
Completion of a graduate-level degree (PharmD, MD, DO, DNP, PhD, MSN, MS or equivalent) with relevant clinical experience Compensation
The annual base pay ranges from $180,000 to $230,000. Overtime may apply for non-exempt roles. Base pay offered varies by location, knowledge, skills and experience. At-will employment is maintained and base pay and compensation programs are subject to change. What we offer
