The mission of the Upper Salinas-Las Tablas Resource Conservation District (USLTRCD) is to provide services and education to stakeholders supporting their management and stewardship of soils, water, and natural resources. Since 1951, we have successfully collaborated with farmers, ranchers, landowners, and government agencies at the local, county, state, and federal levels, aligning with our mission. Our work is diverse, engaging, and impactful, making a real difference in the community. Position: Executive Director Location: Atascadero, California (office-based with projects throughout the district) Compensation/Benefits: $105,000-$115,000 annually (commensurate with experience). Benefits include a generous vacation allowance and paid holidays, a health stipend, a phone stipend, and an employer-matched retirement plan. Position Overview: The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive officer, providing strategic leadership and overseeing all aspects of the organization’s operations, programs, and fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for advancing the mission, ensuring financial sustainability, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Key Responsibilities: 1. Strategic Leadership: o Develop and execute a visionary strategic plan aligned with the organization’s mission. o Serve as the primary advocate and spokesperson, representing the organization to stakeholders, funders, regulatory agencies, natural resource partners, wildlife groups, and the broader community. 2. Fundraising and Resource Development: o Lead diverse fundraising efforts, including grant writing, major donor cultivation, and strategic partnerships. o Build and maintain relationships with funders, ensuring the organization meets or exceeds revenue goals to support programs and operations. 3. Operational Management: o Oversee day-to-day operations, including programs, staff, and budgets. o Ensure compliance with legal, financial, and ethical standards. o Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work environment. 4. Board Engagement: o Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors on policies and programs, providing updates and strategic recommendations. o Assist in board development, recruitment, and governance. Qualifications: • Proven leadership experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector. • Strong track record of fundraising success, including securing major grants and donations. • Financial management expertise, including budgeting and reporting. • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. • Demonstrated commitment to community resilience, networking, and building partnerships across diverse stakeholders. • Familiarity with natural resource management techniques and practices. • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
