3 Rivers Communications, a community-focused cooperative providing broadband and other essential services in rural Montana, is looking to hire a “people-first” leader to help shape the future of the organization and guide their team into its next chapter.

A steady hand—calm under pressure and allergic to drama. Someone who gets small-town life, and either grew up in or has lived in rural communities. You’re committed to being part of the places we serve—this isn’t a remote job, and we think that’s a good thing. You’ve got at least 3–5 years of leadership experience, enough to have developed your own thoughtful approach to managing people and priorities. You’ve led teams big enough to understand the art of delegation, and small enough to still roll up your sleeves when needed. Bonus Points If You Also… Are relatable, down-to-earth, and genuinely care about your team and your community. Understand the co-op mindset, and ideally have experience with nonprofits or mission-driven organizations. Know your strengths—and where you’re still learning. Have financial, board, and/or government/policy-maker experience or exposure, especially related to funding programs or regulation. What You’ll Be Doing Helping us balance what we do well today with what’s coming tomorrow—from maintaining our fiber network to exploring new technologies and services. Supporting financial sustainability through smart operations and funding strategies. Guiding us through important transitions—from big infrastructure builds to ongoing maintenance, and from government grants to what’s next. Representing 3 Rivers in the wider industry—joining conversations, shaping strategy, and being a voice for rural communities. Why 3 Rivers?
