Engagement Coordinator
reports to the
Director of Social Services
and is based at
1402 Eighth Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11215 . Key Responsibilities
Communicate effectively with clients, staff, peers, supervisors, and funders. Provide culturally appropriate direct and non-direct interventions to support clients and the shelter team. Supervise and document sessions with staff such as Recreation Coordinator, Adult Literacy Specialist, Peer Counselors, and Employment Specialist. Implement trauma-informed care, de-escalation, and motivational interviewing techniques. Track incidents, assist in debriefings, and provide crisis management. Develop curricula for various program components and community resources to support housing and engagement efforts. Conduct Crisis Prevention (CPI) trainings for staff. Ensure achievement of funding and performance goals. Organize community and citywide resource field visits. Create incentives to boost client participation. Plan activities aligned with DHS’ Performance Incentive Plan and grant contracts. Coach and motivate staff, ensure documentation accuracy, and manage client data using DHS’s CARES database. Monitor client progress, review documentation, and prepare reports. Lead staff meetings, conduct client orientations, and support program administration. Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree (e.g., B.A., B.S.W.) with two years of relevant experience; Master’s degree preferred. Licenses required for MSW, LCSW, LMSW, or related fields. Additional Requirements
May need First Aid/CPR certification and overdose prevention certification. Must obtain Train the Trainer CPI certification and NYS Peer Specialist Certification within 90 days of hire. Bi-lingual preferred. Compensation $51,000-$54,000 annually. Salary depends on experience, education, and organizational factors.
