Position Summary

Prepares various general ledger account reconciliations as assigned. Reviews general ledger accounts and prepares correcting journal entries. Provides and maintains documentation. Prepares and analyzes financial information to provide accurate and useful information to management for review and decision making. Responsible for the maintenance of the company's fixed asset records and associated documentation in both the fixed asset system and the general ledger per company policy.

Experience

  • Required Experience:
    • Education:
      • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; those pursuing a degree will be considered

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or similar role.
    • CMA, CPA or candidate a plus.
    • Basic understanding of financial statements.
    • Microsoft Office with advanced Excel experience required
    • Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Detail oriented, organized and analytical.
    • Flexibility and willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
    • Must be able to creatively solve problems and facilitate others to do the same.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
    • Ability to work with others in order to accomplish a common goal.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both in written and verbal form.
    • Fundamental understanding of accounting principles.
    • The ability to quantify results, identify new opportunities, adapt to change, and interface with all levels of management on a continual basis is required.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Record capital property additions, retirements and other updates as required per corporate policy to both the fixed asset system and the general ledger.
  • Record depreciation expense in the general ledger system.
  • Coordinate and perform physical asset inventories in accordance with company policy.
  • Prepare detailed reconciliation and roll forward of fixed asset accounts monthly.
  • Maintain complete and accurate files of assets and construction in progress.
  • Maintain and administrate the fixed asset software.
  • Prepare and complete journal entries and closing tasks as assigned.
  • Reconcile and confirm General Ledger accounts as assigned.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules using the company's consolidation software.
  • Assist internal and external auditors during financial and operational audits.
  • Responsible for timely preparation and filing of various government surveys.
  • Works on special projects as assigned.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual schedules that support general ledger balances, which are accurate and which are easily tested and verified.
  • Prepare documentation of business processes and identify steps to improve those processes.
  • Answers questions related to general ledger balances and prepares account analysis schedules as required.
  • Identifies accounting problems, researches possible solutions, and forms conclusions to present to individuals involved.
  • Develops new methods in conjunction with a changing environment, recommending improvements in updating documentation, accuracy, and timeliness; creates an acceptable audit trail to facilitate review and support at year-end.
  • Responsible for internal accounting controls to provide reasonable assurance that the company's assets are safeguarded and properly accounted for in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Scope:

  • Physical Requirements: Office environment with a majority of the time at a desk, occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Work Authorization: Legal authorization to work in the US is required.
  • Relocation Eligibility: Ineligible for Relocation
  • Travel: Occasional travel required
