Job Title: Journeyman Electrician

Job Description:

As a Journeyman Electrician, you will be responsible for servicing electrical and mechanical systems, performing repairs, additions, modifications, and preventive maintenance on equipment for movable bridges in the Hampton Roads Area. You will lead and train other electricians or maintenance personnel on the job site, install and monitor the performance of installed equipment, and ensure the safety and efficiency of operations.

Responsibilities

  • Service electrical and mechanical systems on movable bridges.

  • Lead and train other electricians or maintenance personnel.

  • Install, monitor, and replace electrical and mechanical equipment as needed.

  • Plan electrical secondary system additions or modifications.

  • Perform work of lower level electricians or maintenance mechanics when required.

  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.

  • Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in secondary circuits and systems.

  • Isolate faults in 1000 voltage distribution systems and replace cable runs.

  • Operate, repair, and replace 1000 voltage controls and switchgears.

  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties including mechanical and electrical tasks.

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of secondary electrical systems and ability to plan additions or modifications.

  • Proficient in using tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace, and test 1000 volt and below electrical circuits.

  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical controls and industrial motor control centers.

  • Competence in reading commercial electrical blueprints and applying NEC standards.

  • Experience in installing and maintaining motors, welding equipment, and transformers.

  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician with a minimum of 5 years of experience.

  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the trade.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

  • Valid Electrical Journeyman's License.

  • Registered in DPOR (Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation).

  • Valid Driver's License.

Work Environment

  • Shift 7:30am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday

  • You will work primarily on movable bridges in a construction-type environment, mostly outdoors.

  • The role involves exposure to extreme temperatures and requires considerable physical activity, including heavy lifting of up to 50 pounds.

  • The work environment may involve exposure to potentially dangerous materials, necessitating the use of protective gear and strict adherence to safety precautions.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Norfolk, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $66560.00 - $72800.00/yr.
