Position Overview The Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) Program at Merrimack College in the Applied Human Development and Community Services invites applications for position of Adjunct Lecturer for the Summer 2024, Fall 2024, and/or Spring 2025 semesters. As an adjunct faculty, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing formal learning in the online and/or on campus CMHC programs with primary duties being effective delivery of instructional material and course management (e.g., assessments, grading, etc.).

Several instructors are needed with content expertise and professional applied experience (e.g., teaching, mental health counseling, etc.) for the following graduate courses:

Counseling Skills & Techniques Human Growth & Development Career and College Counseling Trauma & Crisis Intervention Play and Expressive Art Therapy Ethics & Legal Issues in Counseling Clinical Practice in Behavioral Health Diagnosis and Treatment Planning LGBTQI+ Affirmative Counseling Counseling Theory Practicum, Internship I, and Internship II Psychological Assessment Evaluation and Treatment of Addictions

At Merrimack for the CMHC program we have several teaching periods: Fall (15-weeks), Spring (15-weeks) and Summer (6-weeks and 12-weeks). The upcoming Summer 2024 teaching periods are Summer 1, 5/20 – 6/28; Summer 2, 7/8 – 8/16; and Summer 3, 5/20 – 8/16. Our on-campus courses are offered mostly in-person, face-to-face with occasional hybrid delivery. Our online courses are offered asynchronously with the exception of practicum and internship which are synchronous. Generally, most CMHC course section capacity is 12-15 students, except for practicum and internship.

Qualifications: An earned doctorate (Ph.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D.) or an advanced doctorate candidate in Counseling, Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology or a related doctoral degree is preferred; or hold a Master’s degree in Counseling (or related field) with at least 8-10 years of professional clinical practice experience;

Demonstrates a commitment to infusing multicultural content and social justice principles in curriculum and training are highly preferred;

Holds licensure as a mental health counselor with a minimum of 8 years of professional clinical practice experience after licensure is required; or is license eligible or holds licensure as a psychologist.

On Campus and Online CMHC Program(s) Aligned with the mission of Merrimack College, the Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) represents a dynamic, innovative, and growth-oriented training program with a commitment to the principles and values of advocacy and community engagement. Our on-campus and online CMHC programs maintain high-touch engagement and connectedness to meet the needs of graduate students. Our graduates are trained to meet the growing demand for mental health counseling in a number of different settings, including outpatient centers, hospitals, colleges, human resource departments, substance abuse treatment centers, non-profits, and government agencies. With the burgeoning telecounseling mental health landscape, our CMHC program enables students to fulfill the education and degree requirements to apply for licensure primarily in Massachusetts, the New England region (e.g., NH, ME, VT, CT, and RI) and beyond.
