Position Overview The Dynamic Response of Advanced Materials Laboratory (DRAMa Lab) in the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Merrimack College is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to cutting-edge research on the dynamic response of advanced materials. The successful candidate will work closely with Professor Jamie Kimberley alongside a multidisciplinary team of researchers to investigate and model the behavior of advanced materials such as energetic materials, additively manufactured
materials/structures,
and novel lightweight metals. The position will also provide opportunities to explore other research areas of interest to the candidate.
Primary Responsibilities: Execute research tasks defined in collaboration with Dr. Kimberley.
Disseminate research findings through publications and conference presentations.
Develop expertise in grant writing.
Provide mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students in the research group.
Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or related discipline. Graduate students near completion of their PhD program are also welcome to apply.
Successful candidates will have a strong background in experimental mechanics. Experience with dynamic testing techniques (e.g., impact testing, high-strain-rate experiments) is preferred, but not required.
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and publish in high-impact journals.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and in a collaborative research environment.
Strong verbal/written communication skills are essential.
Occasional travel is required.
