Overview
Join to apply for the Retail Associate role at Ross Stores, Inc. The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards as outlined in all work centers, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be required to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; maintains clear egress to emergency exits and reports unsafe conditions.
- Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
- Assists Customers as needed, including being register-trained, assisting with merchandise, and answering questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Greets Customers with eye contact, smiles, and courtesy at every interaction.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; responds to Customer Service calls and, if needed, calls Store Leadership.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters, restocking, and disinfecting high-touch areas to maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
- Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to maintain a neat, clean, and organized store.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines.
- Understands Loss Prevention Awareness, MOS policies, and merchandise protection standards as applicable.
- Safeguards confidential information, cash, and customer data; demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions.
- Follows all policies concerning cash, checks, and refunds; maintains awareness and accuracy in handling tender.
- Demonstrates urgency to maximize productivity and execute Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing and moving around the Store.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; push and pull up to 25 pounds; use janitorial equipment and ladders as needed.
- Associates who work Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.

Compensation
The base pay range for this role is $17.87 - $18.37 per hour. The base pay range depends on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. This range is one component of the total compensation package. Other rewards vary by position and location.
