The Data Analyst I is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to provide actionable insights that support data-driven decision-making at Fortera Credit Union. This role involves collaborating with various departments to understand business needs, developing reports and dashboards, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data used for analysis. The Data Analyst I will play a crucial role in building the organization's data analytics foundation and contributing to the continuous improvement of reporting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and preprocess data from various internal and external sources for analysis. Ensure data accuracy and integrity by identifying and resolving inconsistencies.
  • Analyze datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions. Conduct descriptive, diagnostic, and basic predictive analytics to provide actionable recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain basic dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, Spotfire, or Excel. Create automated reporting solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Present data findings in a clear and visually appealing manner to non-technical stakeholders. Develop customized dashboards and visual analytics tailored to business needs.
  • Work closely with business units to gather reporting and analytics requirements. Translate business questions into analytical solutions and ensure stakeholder alignment.
  • Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess business performance. Provide recommendations for operational improvements based on KPI analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance policies and maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information. Support data quality improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct research and data analysis to provide insights on industry trends and member behavior. Identify opportunities for growth, product optimization, and process improvements.
  • Document data sources, analytical processes, and reporting solutions for future reference. Maintain technical and user documentation for dashboards and reports.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance data analysis efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in data analytics.
  • Attends and participates in all meetings, trainings and committees as required.
  • Participates in community and civic events to promote awareness of the Credit Union in the community.
  • Ensures work area and assigned equipment are clean, secure, and well-maintained.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

Required Knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of data analysis techniques, including statistical and data visualization methods.
  • Familiarity with reporting and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Spotfire, or Excel.
  • Awareness of data governance and data security best practice.
  • Understanding of KPI development and tracking principles.

Experience Required

  • 1-3 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related role.
  • Experience gathering and analyzing data to generate insights.
  • Exposure to data visualization and dashboard creation using industry-standard tools.
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders to define reporting requirements.

Skills/Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in creating dashboards and reports using Excel, Power BI, Spotfire, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of automated reporting processes to improve efficiency.
  • Able to validate and cleanse data to ensure accuracy.
  • Understanding of data privacy and security protocols when handling sensitive information.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills

  • Able to independently, or collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain effective and efficient workflow.
