Shape Safer Skies with Data! This challenging and rewarding role allows you to combine data engineering, analytics, and AI/ML to power improvements to aviation safety and support the FAA’s mission of innovation.

In this role as a Data Engineer / Analyst, you will design and manage data pipelines, perform data cleanup and transformation, and build AI/ML solutions including classification models, entity recognition, and other advanced analytics capabilities. You will work across complex, large-scale datasets, ensuring they are accessible, accurate, and optimized for analytics, machine learning, and operational decision-making.

Concepts Beyond provides Systems Engineering and aviation expertise to advance Air Traffic Management concepts and develop Information Management & related technologies including IoT, Big Data, Cloud, and Security.

Base pay range

$100,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and maintain data ingestion pipelines for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Perform data cleanup, transformation, normalization, and enrichment to improve data quality and usability.
  • Design, train, evaluate, and deploy AI/ML models for:
    • Named Entity Recognition (NER)
    • Natural Language Processing (NLP)
    • Predictive and prescriptive analytics
  • Work with enterprise data platforms for data preparation, integration, and analytics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and implement solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Document data workflows, lineage, and transformation logic for transparency and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to data governance, privacy, and security policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering, ingestion, and analytics. Advanced degrees can be substituted for some experience.
  • Proven expertise in data pipeline development, ETL/ELT processes, and automation.
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, R, or Scala).
  • Experience developing and deploying machine learning models, including classification and entity recognition.
  • Experience with NLP techniques for text analysis and information extraction.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and big data processing.
  • Familiarity with enterprise analytics/data integration platforms.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with Palantir Foundry (highly desirable).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Exposure to API-based integrations and streaming data platforms (Kafka, Kinesis, Amazon Glue etc.)
  • Exposure to Aviation Safety domain (highly desirable)
